One of the hardest parts of breeding dogs is shipping our female to a stranger to be bred to their dog. It is a stressful time for the female and you have little or no control of what goes on at a distance. I shipped 2 females to Lida for breeding. Both came back showing they were well cared for and happy. In fact, when I finally met Lida in person more than a year after Xenta had been bred, I could not believe how happy Xenta was to again see Lida. All other interactions with Lida have been extremely positive. I had no problem suggesting to my best friend that she buy a pup from Lida sight-unseen as I knew the pup would be as represented (in fact he was so much more). Re Lida Fleury: I would not hesitate to recommend Lida Fleury to anyone who is interested in the finest quality German Shepherd Dog. In my opinion, she exemplifies the best qualities that a breeder should possess. She strives to improve the breed each time she produces a litter. She is concerned with producing the highest quality puppy each time she plans a litter. Her kennel is immaculate. Her dogs are well cared for and much loved. She knows the GSD breed history and standard and cares deeply about its future. She does not produce litter after litter for the sake of generating income.
I have referred two of my very good friends, with whom I train at Tulsa Dog Training Club, to Lida. They have reserved two puppies from an upcoming litter due in about 6 or 7 weeks. The parents of one of the friends already has a lovely dog which they bought as a puppy from Lida. All of Lida's dogs that I have met have good temperaments and are vet-checked before they are placed in homes. It is my understanding, also, that Lida guarantees the health of her puppies. I believe that she checks the hips and elbows of all of her dogs before allowing them to reproduce. I am certain that she would not knowingly breed a dog with any health or character defect.
I myself hope to buy a puppy from Lida in the near future. I would not do so unless I was sure of her integrity as a breeder.

Nine years ago I met Lida Fleury at a regional show and was so taken with her and the dogs that she had with her that we drove from Indiana to Kansas to stay at her home and to choose our next puppy. We developed a friendship and even returned just for a visit in later years because we had finally found an honest person with integrity whose main focus was on providing sound companion and working dogs in a breed riddled with genetic flaws. A good example of our respect for her might be.....we named that puppy "Lida".

I have known Lida Fleury of Whirling Thunder German Shepherds for over 5 years. Over these years I have come to know her very well and have spent time at her home. I have the utmost respect for Lida and have found her to be very caring, honest, consciencious and dedicated to keeping and bettering the German Shepherd dog. Her entire life is dedicated to her dogs and her loving care can be seen in her dog's returned dedication. Her many hours of loving care is evident in how well kept her kennel is as well as how healthy and happy her dogs are. I personally have entrusted my dogs to her care and never worry about them.
